Alice Springs Road Trip, 2022

This road trip to Alice Springs commenced in Sydney and went west on a variety of roads for 1500kms to Port Augusta in South Australia. Here the Stuart Highway (some 3,000kms long from south to north) commences at the Eyre Highway. We turned right here and drove 1200kms north to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

Nights were spent in cabins in towns such as Coober Pedy, or larger rest stops such as Marla, that sold accommodation with camping facilities and rooms, food and fuel. We would also stop for coffee, lunch, or just take a break at the public rest stops beside the highway. After a week in Alice Springs we headed home, stopping at different rest stops along the Stuart Highway, and following some other roads east, taking seven days to complete that last part of the trip.
